Diskwise is a Mac app and this website, diskwise.app. This policy explains what data each of them handles. If anything here is unclear, email support@diskwise.app.

The short version

  • Your files stay on your MacDiskwise reads the names and sizes of your files on your Mac, and none of it leaves.
  • No account, no analyticsNo sign-up, no tracking and no crash reports, in the app or on this site.
  • Just a licence checkOnce you activate, Diskwise checks your licence key with diskwise.app about once a week. Nothing else leaves your Mac.

The app

Diskwise runs entirely on your Mac. To do its job it reads, on your Mac only:

  • the names and sizes of files and folders in your home folder,
  • which apps and processes are running, and how much processor time and memory they use,
  • memory pressure, swap, uptime and heat, as macOS reports them.

None of this leaves your Mac. The app has no account, no analytics and no crash reporting.

Its one network connection is the licence check. When you activate Diskwise, it sends your licence key and a random name for your Mac, like mac-3f9a62c1d0b4, to diskwise.app. About once a week after that, and when you deactivate, it sends your key and the ID Creem gave that activation. diskwise.app passes them on to Creem, which says whether the key is valid, and doesn’t store them itself. Until you activate, the app makes no network connections.

It keeps a small history of free space readings and cleans, its last storage report and your licence in ~/Library/Application Support/Diskwise on your Mac, and its settings in ~/Library/Preferences/app.diskwise.Diskwise.plist. While Open at login is on, which it is from the first launch, it also keeps ~/Library/LaunchAgents/app.diskwise.Diskwise.plist. Deleting the app and these removes everything it keeps.

This website

diskwise.app is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes standard request data such as your IP address and browser type, and the same goes for the app’s licence check. This site sets no cookies and runs no trackers or advertising scripts. Its fonts come from diskwise.app itself, so no font service sees your visit.

Buying Diskwise

Purchases are handled by Creem, our reseller and merchant of record. Creem collects your name, email address, payment and billing details, and processes them under its own privacy policy at creem.io/privacy. We never see your full card details. From Creem we receive your name, email address, country and order details, which we use to provide your licence, answer support requests and handle refunds. Creem also issues your licence key and keeps it with your order, along with the random names of the Macs it’s activated on.

Email

If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you. We don’t send marketing email, and we never sell or share your details.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep order records as long as the law requires for tax and accounting. You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you at any time by emailing support@diskwise.app.

Children

Diskwise is not directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update it here and change the date at the top.
